HAND-CRAFTED GOLD TONED ALBUMEN PHOTOGRAPHS: LIMITED-EDITION PRINTS

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to share that I have released a limited-edition series of Gold Toned Albumen Prints for sale! This series consists of just 7 prints meticulously crafted using the traditional 19th-century Albumen printing method, created between 2023 and 2024.

Albumen printing was a popular method in the mid-19th century for creating detailed and sharp images. It involved the deliberate and slow process of coating paper with a mix of egg white and salt, sensitizing it with silver nitrate, and exposing it to light with a negative. After that, the image was meticulously developed, fixed, and toned to perfection. Though the process was complex, it produced prints with outstanding quality and tonal range. While Albumen printing isn't as common today due to more convenient methods like gelatin silver printing, its historical and aesthetic value is still treasured.

Since my first introduction to working with 19th-century processes, which began in 2018, I have had the chance to delve into additional alternative photographic techniques. This experience has deepened my fondness and appreciation for the various forms of 19th-century photographic processes.  Working with the tactile nature of this artistic medium has been incredibly rewarding.

Due to the chemical application and hand-brushing involved in this process, each print will be unique. Some may show brush marks and slight imperfections, making every print distinct. No two prints are alike. Each image is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
